I’ve studied Urban Krav Maga for about eight years, working directly with the system’s founder, and I am currently one of only two female UKM instructors. I set up UKMW because I believe very strongly in women’s self-defence, and because there are some very unhelpful myths floating around in popular culture which go a long way towards discouraging women from defending themselves against attack. UKMW is intended to act, in part, as a countermeasure to those myths.
Claire is a very good teacher who recently ran a successful female self defence course in Uganda, a notable achievement.
Female Only Self Defence in North London
As a teenager in Belfast, I started training in kickboxing, Muay Thai and some Judo. Since then, I moved onto reality-based self-defence systems and have been an instructor in two Krav Maga organisations. I've also cross-trained in Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
I'm available for private classes in the Central and South East London area, but will consider other areas as well. Whether you want to learn to defend yourself, or simply want to improve your fitness or confidence, send me an email and I'll see how I can help you achieve your goals.
I qualified as an Urban Krav Maga instructor in 2009, under my friend Stewart McGill (founder and Chief Instructor of Urban Krav Maga) and Leo Negao (4x BJJ World Champion).
My background consists of Muay Thai, 2 systems of Israeli Krav Maga and of course Urban Krav Maga.
I have four classes, in London Bridge, Southwark and Bromley.
Private lessons also available, throughout South/South East London, Surrey and Kent.
I regularly teach members of the public, police officers, serving soldiers and have even taught private lessons to a stunt performer with an exceptional portfolio.
In June 2014 I was asked to run a female self defence seminar, which was featured in The Telegraph.
I have a large student base, where beginners are welcomed and treated equally, free of ego.
Three of my students have progressed onto the Instructor Course, all passing first time.
My Rapid Progress Package (12 week fast track) will help you to defend yourself in the shortest time possible - please see my website for details.

Been training Urban Krav Maga for the past 5 years and I specialise in looking at explosive power, no-frills street fighting/self-defence which can be applied in real life situations.
I regularly train with Stewart McGill (founder of UKM), Leo Negao (4-time world BJJ champion and co-owner of UKM) and also train at Legacy Gym Thailand (Ole Laursen, ex World and European Muay Thai champion).

The qualification that really pushed me both mentally and physically was the UKM Instructor course. I am both honoured and proud to be part of this family.
I have a background in traditional martial arts such as Muay Thai and Karate. Until I discovered Urban Krav Maga I wasn’t convinced that I could effectively defend myself against someone that wasn't either barefoot or sporting a fetching set of white pyjamas.
I’m excited about teaching Urban Krav Maga because I can show you how to defend yourself from attacks that most frequently occur. What you will learn does not rely solely on gender, size or strength.
Training with me you will learn to embrace elements of fear, stress and verbal triggers. You will realise that acknowledging their effects will condition you to make the appropriate response should you need to defend yourself.
Equally important is being able to justify any use of force and I specialise in helping you understand the legal consequences you may face following a violent confrontation.
Private classes only at the moment, more classes to be announced
